I have always believed the key to success is surrounding yourself with the RIGHT people. The Boundless Collection Team is no exception. I am beyond blessed to work alongside the most talented, creative, resourceful, and hardworking women in the promo biz (girl power high five). SO, when the time came to launch our new BoundlessCollection.com website, I wanted to feature the BC Team because, simply put, THEY are what makes Boundless Collection different! This post is the story behind the BC team photos…
Our team resides in different places- Texas, Colorado, and California…so bringing everyone together during the busiest time of the year, (corporate holiday gift giving), was going to take some careful planning and strategery (yes, I know it isn’t a word, but shouldn’t it be!?). I wanted to turn taking pictures for the website into an experience, a holiday treat for the girls…they certainly deserve it! So immediately, my wheels starting cranking. How can I ensure that the girls feel their absolute BEST? That the photographs reflect their amazing-ness? Well, in the words of the late-great Audrey Hepburn – “I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.” SO, what makes a girl happy? Shopping, a good blow out, and make-up, of course! Luckily, I happen to know some very talented individuals that can help me pull this off. And so, I am writing to share our celebrity adventure with you AND give some well-deserved shout outs to the fabulous beautification committee that was the key to making it an experience we will always cherish.
The BC Team arrived in town on a Thursday. We met at Nordstrom’s NorthPark in Dallas – mecca to any fashion lover and the perfect place for true girlie-girl time. Our celebration commenced at The Nordstrom Café, and our two-days of Celeb treatment was un-corked with a bottle of Mumm Rose Champagne (my personal fave). We toasted to our most successful year of business (cheers 2013), our amazing customers (one of which happened to be at lunch WITH us), our health, and friendship. Hooray! With a full tummy and a festive feeling the adventure began! One of my dear friends, Riane Hubbart (rianehubbart.com) is a SUPER talented wardrobe consultant and stylist. She met us at Nordstrom’s, looking as stylish as always, and swept us away to a dressing room full of clothing she personally selected for each of us. Riane had our sizes and a few style preference notes to work with and she managed to pull together the perfect ensemble of outfits for the photo shoot. It was SO MUCH fun!! I cannot thank Riane enough for her time, commitment to fashion, and personality that makes shopping even MORE enjoyable! If you are looking for someone to help find the perfect outfit for a special event, a wardrobe review and re-fresh, or just a style-savvy friend, she is your girl.
We selected The Grand in Downtown McKinney (GrandHotelMcKinney.com) for the BC Slumber party! A LONG-TIME AVID fan of the historic square in downtown McKinney, I loved the idea of sharing this small-town heart warmer with my favorite girls. A rare-jewel chock-full of GREAT places to eat, dine and primp, downtown McKinney is certainly worth the trip. I could go on and on about my favorite places to visit, but to name a FEW: Primp Salon & Boutique, Bloom, Ambrosia, Patina Green House and Market, Grey Living, Spoons. SO MANY! Find out more here: http://mckinneytexas.org/index.aspx?nid=570 but definitely add the square to your “must see” list. We had a happy hour of Pear Martini’s at Rick’s Chophouse Lounge, Dinner at Sauce on the Square, and then we were off to bed to prepare for the BIG photo shoot the following day.
On Friday AM we woke bright and early and headed to Primp Salon & Boutique, a few blocks away from The Grand Hotel. Primp is owned by my dear, dear friend Jeny Honea. This little salon and boutique is DARLING!! Jeny designed the space herself (so talented) and it has so much character and charm. I find myself romanticizing the life of working in a salon every time I am there. I can’t imagine if my JOB were to work in a beautiful space, make people pretty, and talk with my girlfriends all day. So fun! I encourage everyone to check it out (facebook.com/primpsalonboutique). Jeny gives an amazing manicure (Deborah Lippmann Polish – my personal selection was Bitches Brew), and her pedicures are provided on a multi-level porch built from salvaged wood. You sit in an over-sized comfy chair while your feet are soaked in copper bowls and rubbed down with organic house made sugar scrub. Jeny stocks the boutique with great affordable gift options and clothing – inevitably I find a new “must-have” to purchase at every visit. The entire team at Primp is awesome! Tiffany Lemin Williams (469-556-6680) has been my hair stylist at Primp for years…she gives the best cut and color. (I am picky about my color and she gets it just right, every time)! She also gives THE BEST BLOW OUTS. So, we were able to secure Tiffany for all of our blow outs and she styled our hair perfectly!!
Again, what girl doesn’t LOVE make-up (well, all girls SHOULD love make up in my opinion J). The real treat of the day was Cher Hukill! I met Cher thru my daughter’s cheer team (she was a volunteer coach – God love her), and I knew I wanted to know her better from the moment I met her. She looked fabu fabulous of course and I quickly learned that she is a professional make-up artist for The Campbell Modeling Agency. I had been SEARCHING for a good reason to benefit from her services and the BC photo shoot was the perfect excuse! So Cher showed up and worked her MAGIC – fake lashes (Falsies) and all! We all felt like true glamor girls. Certainly worth the splurge if you ever want the ultimate indulgence, OR just to look really, really great, reach out to Cher www.facebook.com/cher.hukill . She has a definite talent for playing up your best features. Big muwah, Cher!
Last but certainly not least is Michelle Parks – Elle Parks Studio. Michelle is an A-MA-ZING photographer. I met Michelle thru CRAVE, a really cool world-wide organization that is all about promoting innovative shops and businesses created by Women (another girl power high five). I have long admired her work. She has a true talent for capturing raw beauty and personality through photography. Having her facilitate our photo shoot was a real treat and quite an experience. Michelle photographs families as you will see on her site (www.elleparksphotography.com) but she ALSO does professional photography (her work has been featured in Elle Magazine). SO, she is very accustomed to working with MODELS. While there are a few in our group that are totally comfortable in front of the camera (I am NOT one of them), it was freezing cold and we were wanting to capture personality on a commercial project – both I am sure posed a bit of a challenge. We did individual and group photos. I can’t say it was “fun” pretending to be a model for the day (MUCH harder than I would have ever imagined) but Michelle made everyone feel comfortable and pretty, and I am so grateful we were able to work with her! She is a true “who’s who” of photography! I love the final product and think it represents the BC Team well.
So, I have rambled long enough… but I did want to share the story behind the BC photo shoot. It was so fun and such a wonderful experience! Life is most certainly “made” by the people you have IN it! I am one lucky girl. I work alongside some incredible people and I am surrounded by amazingly talented friends like Jeny, Tiffany, Cher, Riane, and Michelle. These are life-long relationships that I will cherish forever. I have the photos to prove it.
